Lake Michigan Shore & Fennville
The Lake Michigan Shore AVA is the largest viticultural area in the state, containing a variety of microclimates thanks to the temperature-moderating influence of Lake Michigan, which make it ideal for cultivating a diverse array of grape varieties; be sure to try the Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir. Fennville AVA, although smaller and encompassed within the Lake Michigan Shore, has a distinct climate and soil types that allow it to support different grape varieties and wine styles; look out for Pinot Gris, Traminette, and Chambourcin. Both AVAs are outstanding destinations whether you're searching for a true Michigan experience or simply incredible wines.
